The Kale Project in Spain!

May 1, 2014 By Kristen 3 Comments

Friends! I have such exciting news. Back in December I met a lovely woman named Christy through my team at National Kale Day. She had fallen in love and married a Spaniard and had been living off and on in Spain since 2012 and was planning to make the final move there in early 2014. But guess what else?

She’d been doing her own version of a kale project because while a lot of kale is grown in Spain for export to the UK – and now France, it can be very difficult to find. After connecting over a glass of rioja near Union Square – on what was the coldest, windiest, snowiest day – Christy told me that she would love to be a part of The Kale Project as the Spanish ambassador. I am so thrilled to introduce her to you and share all of her stories.

For the first few updates, Christy, who lives in La Huerta in the Murcia region, which refers to the surrounding valley filled with fields and orchards and includes several small pueblos and pedanias, will share her kale-searching tales since 2012 and who knows where she will go from there.

    Hi,

I am the spanish ambassador for la Ruche qui dit Oui! (here it’s ¡La Colmena que dice Sí!).
Maybe I could contact with Christy. A “Ruche” can be a good way to find Kale :)

    Best,

    Marc
