One of the reasons that I launched The Kale Project before there is actually kale, is because I hoped that spreading the word would introduce me to people in Paris that might be able to help with the movement.
After five years working in advertising one thing I realized, is that a “big reveal” happens less and less as social media and content creation becomes more prominent in marketing plans. So I figured why not take what I’ve learned and apply it to my kale venture? I could have chosen to do a big “Ta-Da” when product was finally here but what good would that do if I had no real way of getting the word out? And with enough time to actually sell the product? I knew that for me to build awareness and gather interest of people like you wonderful readers and followers, I would have to bring everyone into the nitty-gritty details of what I actually went through while bringing kale to your market or your favorite restaurant.
My initial hope was that spreading the word about “kale in Paris,” would expose me to people who would help with the movement. And last week I received my first piece of fan mail!
An email from an unknown person, who I will name “MP,” with the subject “Awesome News!” was enough to make me jump with excitement on a random Friday.
Hi Kristen!
I’m really excited about your kale project, that’s awesome! I’m a kale addict too and miss it when I’m in Paris (I come and go). Maybe I could ask my organic farmer (he doesn’t use any pesticides of any kinds and is in the process of getting is Ecocert certification) at the Vincennes (RER A Vincennes or line 1 Chateau de Vincennes) farmer’s market? He is very friendly and knows me well.
Let me know! Have a fabulous weekend!

I couldn’t believe my luck – was I now going to be in contact with two potential farmers? That both grow organic? It was a kale addict’s dream come true! I immediately wrote MP back and we are scheduled to meet up with her farmer this week after getting to know each other over a café crème.
I can’t wait to report back what happens with MP’s farmer friend. Stay tuned…
