When I was invited to attend a class at The Dailey Method Paris, I quickly agreed. A combination of ballet barre work, core conditioning, muscle strengthening, yoga, and orthopedic exercises, I knew it was something that would be good for me. Plus I’d yet to attend one of the barre/yoga/pilates classes that are becoming all the rage in big American cities.
A gorgeous studio with a welcoming staff, The Dailey Method Paris opened in Paris in 2006 by Kelly Dailey (her sister founded The Dailey Method in San Francisco and her other sister also teaches). I immediately felt at home and when we all joined together with our mats, weights, ropes and fun music to exercise to the hour went by quickly.
And yes – I was sore the next day but you know the feeling – the good sore after a hard workout.
The Dailey Method is joining together with Tommy Hilfiger all next week for ‘Dailey Donate Week’ to support Breast Cancer Awareness. Check out their schedule for any classes listed as “Daily Donate.” They are free but all donations will go toward Breast Health International.
Plus, Tommy Hilfiger has designed a special bag just where 1/3 of the cost will be donated to BHI as well. More information in this Marie Claire article.
It’s a great way to get yourself back into exercise mode and support a good cause at the same time. Help The Dailey Method #TurnParisPink!
Kelly’s sister Erin tells us more about her love for kale.
***
Describe what kale tastes like in one sentence.
A crunch leaf with lots of depth that finishes off with a little spice and a touch of earth.
When was the first time you tried kale? And how?
About 5 years ago in a salad. It’s still my favorite way to eat it.
If you were preparing kale for a kale-virgin what would you do?
Make a kale salad that would surprise them at its simplicity. Chiffonade the kale and macerate for a good five minutes in a dressing made from lemon juice, olive oil, salt and pepper. My kids even love it! It’s equally good with baby kale.
What’s your favorite way to eat kale?
Aside from the salad above, I also like it in a juice.
What does The Dailey Method provide that other exercise programs do not?
Our emphasis is alignment and keeping our exercises orthopedically-based is one key that makes us unique. Then you add in our energizing music, the community atmosphere and the hands-on individual adjustments we provide and this sets the Dailey Method apart with a holistic approach that is difficult to find anywhere else.
