I’m just going to get this off my chest: it feels really good to be able to write that kale is BACK for the second time at a Paris market. That’s right, you read correctly, back again for the second time.
Monsieur Joël Thiebault started selling his kale again this past Saturday. There even is a cute sign that says, “Le kale, crossed the Atlantic.”
I remember how excited I was last year, right around the same time, that I discovered that Monsieur Thiebault had done good on his promise to grow kale, and that I left the marché blowing him a kiss!

Thank you for the info. Kristen!!! when is a time good to go to the market to assure that there will kale available?

It depends. Joel has not had kale since last December so it will be a while until people catch on again. And he had a lot more this year! But I would still get there relatively early (10ish?). I hope this helps!

hello! A friend of mine confirmed that she spotted Kale at JT’s stand rue Gros, apparently 12 euros a kilo. That’s a hefty price but since its so rare for the time being it may well be worth it..
Looking forward to seeing KALE around, have been inciting the produce stores to ask their providers to source it from Belgium or Germany, we’ll see how this develops. Keep those Kales crossed..

hi there! cool. keep me posted what the grocery stores say. a farmer in brittany will hopefully be supplying to carrefour and biocoop soon. no reason to source from belgium or germany – there are enough farmers who can supply from France. If the stores need info – send them my way.
As for JT: it was 2,40€ a bunch and i asked her to weigh the bunch which came out to .750 grams… so I don’t think he’s selling it for 12 a kilo! That would be super expensive especially since it’s not bio!
keep me posted on the grocery stores.
