I was lucky enough to meet Mandarine, the founder of Paris’ newest cold-press juice company, Juice Lab, over a year ago. Sitting in the hot summer sun at the Keith McNally/French café rip-off, Le Favorite in the Marais (actually though which came first Schillers or Le Favorite?), Mandarine gushed to me about her passion for cold-press juice. It was during this gushing that she told me her plans to launch a cold-press juice company in Paris.
Born in New Mexico to French parents, Mandarine is one of those people that you aren’t quite sure whether she is American or European. She speaks English with an American accent and acts American because she few up there but then blends right in with the gorgeous, carefree attitude of French women and when she opens her mouth, she speaks perfect French. Jealous much? Of course.
But it is her love for cold-press juice that really stands out and most recently coming from New York, where there is a cold-press juice shop on nearly every corner (seriously, are these things outnumbering Starbucks yet?) that she really missed her beloved juices. This of course was before the few cold-press juice companies launched and although Mandarine is not the first to hit the Paris market, her attention detail stands out.
Quickly putting her idea into action, she worked tirelessly and meticulously to develop the perfect recipes for her cleanse program as well as developing great combinations of vegetables and fruits to satisfy a mid-day juice craving.
I was lucky enough to test out the juices at the Salon de l’homme in late fall and the combinations are delicious. Concoctions like ‘King Kale’ with pineapple, kale, spinach and more and even savory options like the ‘Popeye’ with a tomato and pepper base as well as a carrot gaspacho were a pleasant surprise and a good option for a different time of day.
I really enjoyed the ‘Date Me’ which is their almond milk option and was perfect for an on-the-go breakfast.
Each juice includes around 3 kilos of fruits and vegetables and ingredients were chosen to amplify different things like detoxification, immunity, metabolism, anti-inflammation and more. All juices are fresh, raw, vegan, without gluten, non-pasteurized, without additives or HPP and 100% natural.
Juice Lab will be launching their delivery/cleanse service any day now and plans are in the works to have a storefront soon after. In the meantime, Mandarine and her hardworking team are always available for partnerships and collaborations and have had a strong presence at the last few fashion weeks keeping the New Yorkers and models alike well afloat with green beverages.
